How to taste our ham at its best

Ham should preferably be tasted cut into thin slices either with a knife (ham on the bone) or with a slicing machine (ham off the bone), and consumed at once accompanied by a glass of good dry white wine, with an elegant, but not too strong bouquet.

In Friuli we eat it with Tocai, a dry white wine with a slightly acid bouquet, which is the ideal combination with the delicate, sweet and soft aroma of the ham.
We strongly suggest avoiding red wines, as their bouquet and body cover the delicately perfumed flavour of San Daniele ham.
For the same reason pickled vegetables containing vinegar should be avoided: their strong, pungent taste would cover that of the ham. Try it instead in combination with figs or melon: the delicate flavour of this fruit goes well with the sweet and soft flavour of the ham; wrapped around a “grissino” (breadstick) or eaten with freshly baked white bread. Avoid eating San Daniele ham with whole-meal or spiced bread and breadsticks.

Our ham can be sampled at the restaurant-bar AL BACCARO, located at a distance of less than 2 km from our ham factory.
